ARTIST STATEMENT
In her work, Angela often explores the tension between design and intuitiveness and is fascinated by the emergence of beauty through creative psychological processes. In her words, "The transformative power of pain, grief, and struggle have the potential to lift the human soul to the sublime. The creative arts can activate that transformative power."
BIO
Angela Heirtzler is best known for her dynamic use of texture by incorporating a wide range of materials including oil, ink, acrylic, spray paint, gel medium, papers, glue, wood, and ceramic elements. She loves exploring new materials and techniques. Her symbolic abstract paintings often include figurative realism, a love of which she developed early on. Angela was born in Baton Rouge, LA and began painting in the studio of local artist Ann Wales at the age of 7.
She is now based in Spanish Fork, UT and is often influenced and inspired by the differences she experiences between the green humid countryside of Louisiana and the dry colorful landscape along the Wasatch mountain range.
